Myths
Greek Mythology has left us an invaluable heritage of tales with envious gods, courageous heroes, epic adventures and stories of vengeance and love. We would need several volumes of books to cover most of the stories
Here are three of the most famous myths.
1) Theogony: Clash of the Titans. The story of born of Earth and Uranus (sky) and the transition from chaos to 12 Olympian gods through Titanomachy and Gigantomachy
2) Τhe Three Sisters of Fate: the Moirae are the three goddesses of fate. Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos. The three sisters weave the fate of humans and gods alike. Neither human nor God has the power to influence or question their judgment and actions! The three together define the life of each human
3) Prometheus and the Theft of Fire. The stolen of fire from Olympus and the delivery of it to humans
Tradition
Customs and traditions in Greece and the Greek Islands are an important aspect of the Greek culture. There are either of a religious character or coming from paganism. Furthermore, most of the traditions and festivals still celebrated today are religious.
Back then, great gatherings were organized, where people amused themselves by eating, drinking and dancing, something that is very common in today’s Greek life The reasons for the celebrations were the change of the season from winter to spring, and the glorification of God Dionysus
Today’s similar celebrations are the Greek Easter (death – life) and the various carnival parades and panigiria (festivals) taking place in various regions of Greece.
